Philip L. Skinner
NORWAY — Philip L. Skinner, 78, of Norway died Thursday morning, April 28, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. He was born in South Paris, May 27, 1932 the son of Horace L. and Inez M. Marr Skinner. He attended Bridgton Academy and faithfully served his country in the Army from 1955-1957.
He started working in the woods with his brother-in-law, and worked at Ernie's City Service several years. He then went to work at A.W. Walker for over 20 years and then retired from the Paris Farmers Union in 1998 having worked there for 15 years. Phil enjoyed going to the Norway/Paris Lion's Club Auto Show for 29 years, winning best of show award trophy for 28 years in 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; children, Bruce Skinner, Penny Merrill and husband Stan, Jerry Skinner and Marcia Libby, Debbie Cook and Alan Skinner and Judy; a sister, Betty Merrill; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends attended graveside services on Saturday, April 30 at the Elm Vale Cemetery in South Waterford. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Maine Veterans Home, B Unit, 477 High Street, South Paris.
