Pearl D. Noble Goodwin

BRUNSWICK — Pearl D. Noble Goodwin, 92 died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

She was born in Norway, May 16, 1918, the daughter of Nathan A. and Pearl Dunham Noble and attended Norway schools. She worked for many years as a switchboard operator at B.E. Cole, Francine and Miller Shoe shops; following her retirement she became a volunteer driver for Western Maine Transportation. In 1999 she relocated to Brunswick to be closer to her children and became a volunteer at Mid Coast Hospital as a driver for the Courtesy Shuttle throughout the hospital grounds. She was a member of the Heywood Club and the Eastern Star.

Despite several adversities throughout her life, beginning with the death of her mother shortly after birth, she lived a full and happy life. She worked hard in order to provide a warm, loving home for her children and always put them first in her life. She loved family gatherings and always added fun, love and laughter to them. She was a wonderful, supportive and loving mother who was deeply loved and was truly blessed to have shared a very close relationship with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Goodwin will be remembered for her Sunday dinners, homemade fudge and donuts, feeding the birds and deer, daily phone calls with her children and her off-color jokes.

Survivors include her children, Bethany and husband Warren Bryant of Topsham, Doreen and husband Keith Fitzgerald of West Bath and Daniel and wife Nancy Goodwin of Yarmouth; grandchildren, Darin and Patricia Bryant of Topsham, Jackie and David Lemieux of Williamstown, MA, Chris and Haila Bryant of Brunswick, Jody and Dugta Heikkinen of El Paso,TX and Matthew Goodwin of Yarmouth;10 great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband Lona and Emile (Bill) Bedard of Norway and several nieces and nephews.

The family invites you to join them in a celebration of Mrs. Goodwin's life on Saturday, May 14 from 12-3 p.m. at the Heywood Club, Crockett Ridge Road in Norway. Interment will be in Norway Pine Grove Cemetery, South Paris. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to the ME Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330.
