Marvis Laura (Hoyt) Maynard
SOUTH PARIS — Marvis Laura Maynard, 75, of South Paris died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Springfield, MA on March 29, 1935, the daughter of Cmdr. Philip Chaplin Hoyt of Bridgton and Ione Whitney Hoyt of Granville, NY. She graduated Wrentham High School, Class of 1953, in Wrentham, MA. She married Rolland Maynard on March 16, 1963.
She was a librarian, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, served as President of the Knitting Guild, and was awarded many blue ribbons for her craft. She was also an accomplished piano player and member of the First Congregational Church, South Paris. Most notably, she was a loving and giving wife and mother to her family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mrs. Maynard is survived by her husband, Jim of South Paris; two daughters, Diana Cala of Middleboro, MA and Colleen Knights of Cincinnati, OH; a son, James Maynard of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; a granddaughter, April Heiser of Wisconsin; a grandson, Jared Knights of Tucson, AZ; a great-granddaughter, Haleigh Lynn; a great-grandson, Jesse Thomas; a niece, Kathleen Foster and two nephews, William Hamilton and Wayne Hamilton.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 28 at the First Congregational Church, 17 E. Main St., South Paris. Family and friends attended a time of visitation prior to the service at the church. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, March 29 at the Center Cemetery in Wrentham, MA. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
