PEABODY, MA — Eric Lee, Jr., 63, of Peabody, formerly of Maine, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at his home. Born in Finland, he was the son of the late Eric Lee, Sr. and Alli (Kankalo) Lee. At a young age he immigrated with his family to Massachusetts and has lived off and on in Peabody, Norway and Finland for several years. He has lived in Peabody for the past 26 years.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War who served with the 101st Airborne in the United States Army. After the war, he attended East Cost Aero Tech at Hanscom Field and became a mechanic. He worked for over 38 years as a master technician for the Hertz Rental Company at Logan Airport before retiring two years ago.

He enjoyed spending time in Maine and liked sailing and boating, but what he enjoyed most was flight simulation and his computer.

Mr. Lee is survived by a sister, Pirkko “Pixie” and her husband Erkki Lamppu of Lorida, FL; a niece, Diana Lamppu of Roslindale, an aunt and uncle, Ruth and David Waisanen of Denmark and three cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 1, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody from 5 to 8 p.m. to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to either the Vietnam Veterans of America, P.O. Box 8043, Lynn, MA 01904 or the Finnish American Heritage Society of Maine, P.O.
