William J. Cashin, Jr.

SOUTH PARIS — William J. Cashin, Jr., 82, of South Paris passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Togus. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 27, 1928, the son of William and Dorothy (Drake) Cashin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He worked for American Can Co. for 22 years then became Head Custodian at Hacienda LaPuente School District in CA for nine years. He was a very active member of the VFW and American Legion.

He was very much a people person, and loved to socialize whereever he was. He just loved having his special granddaughter, Tehya, visit. He fought the battle of cancer for 10 years but had a very positive outlook on life.

Mr. Cashin is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ruby; three children, John W. Cashin of Tucson, AZ, Diana DuBief of Norway and William J. Cashin III of Norway; grandchildren, Erica Heitzer, Ashley Cashin, special granddaughter Tehya LeeAnne Cashin, Candace Gaphart and Dominique DuBief; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Jennette Ernst, Kathy Baum and Susan Zook and brother, Carl Johnson. He is predeceased by a granddaughter, Joleen DuBief and great-grandson, Brandon DuBief.
