SOUTH PARIS — Arthur Isaac Farrar, 76, passed away on February 23, 2011 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. He was born in Sumner on June 1, 1934, the son of Charles and Elsie Bonney Farrar. He attended Sumner schools and later received his GED from Oxford Hills High School. He married Ruth Abbott on October 27, 1956. He was employed for many years at A. C. Lawrence in South Paris. He was in the Armed Forces from 1956 to 1960.

He was very family oriented and loved spending quality time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Gussie. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed such trips with his many lifelong friends. He spent most of the summer months camping with his wife and grandchildren in Freeport. He also enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods.

Mr. Farrar will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years; daughters, Peggy Newton and Doreen Tibbetts; grandchildren, Tracy Tibbetts and Jennifer Newton-Fortin and her husband Jon; great-grandchildren, Matthew Newton-Fortin, Brianna Newton-Fortin and Kimberly Paul; sisters, Janette Farrar Packard, Lorraine Farrar Pullen and husband Richard and Jeanie Haral and husband Jim; brother, Anthony Farrar and wife Patricia and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Roger and Vernon Farrar.

At his family's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association of Maine, 51 US Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074 or Stephens Memorial Hospital, 181 Main St., Norway, ME 04268.
