Ervin Richard Brown
RUMFORD — Ervin Richard "Dickie" Brown, 65, of Rumford Center died peacefully at home in the arms of his family after a long courageous battle with brain cancer, Monday, February 21, 2011. Dickie was born to Daniel A. and Isabel N. Brown on September 28, 1945 in Rumford, ME. Dickie attended South Lancaster Acadamy in South Lancaster, MA.
Dick was well known for his compassion for family and friends. He loved stock car racing, arm wrestling, camping, motorcycles, ATV's, snowmobiling and spending time with his family. Dick was also known for his passion for driving overloaded pulp trucks and was recognized and inducted as a champion logger in the Fryeburg Fair Saco Valley Woodsmen's Field Day hall of fame in 2009. He loved living and loving life to its fullest each and every day! We all loved and admired his quick wit and light hearted sense of humor even in his final days.
Dickie will be greatly missed by his surviving family: his wife Mary Beth Brown of Rumford; his sons Darren Brown of West Paris and Ervin Richard Brown, Jr and wife Heather of Greenwood; his daughters, Darlene Cossar and husband James of West Paris, and Doreen Brown of South Paris; his stepchildren, Justin Hautaniemi of Newport, RI and Ashley Hautaniemi of Bethel, Tina Scribner and husband Dennis of Otisfield and Kris Sanborn of Greenwood.
Also, his grandchildren, Tricia Young and Husband Eli of Oxford, Paul Cox, Jr of Oxford, Krystal Hadley of West Paris, Jennie Cox of West Paris, Chelsey Brown of West Paris and Ervin Richard Brown III of Greenwood; his step grandchildren, Dalton and Dionne Hemingway and Jordyn and Dennis Sanborn; his Great Grandchildren, Hannah Young and Delilah Cox; his brother, Daniel Brown and wife Emily of California: his sisters, Aldis Locklin and husband Tom of Mass and Leanna Wisnosky and husband Bill of West Paris.
He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years Janice Cary Brown, his Father, Daniel Brown, by an infant brother, and infant grandson Dustin Brown
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Perkins Valley Road in Woodstock. A celebration of his life will follow at the Tuscany Hall Rte 26, South Paris, ME.
Interment in the spring will be in the Rumford Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to www.rideinfo@braintumor.org.
