NORWAY — Lulu M. Calhoun, 101, of Norway passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center. She was born in Lakeville on December 28, 1909, the daughter of George N. and Isabel MacLellan Calhoun. She attended schools in Canada and Dr. Leighton's Private Hospital. She came to the area as a caregiver then went into private duty nursing. She worked for Dr. Dixon for 27 years.

She was a member of the Norway Baptist Church; she enjoyed her church family and knew and loved her Lord. She enjoyed walking, traveling, her flower garden and being on the go. She learned to drive and owned a convertible. She loved the ocean, lobster and boat rides. Family and friends were very important to her, and being part of the Maple Street neighborhood. She was known for being prompt, punctual and independent. She was a member of the Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Miss Calhoun is survived by two sisters-in-law, Agnes Calhoun and Bessie Calhoun both of Canada; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her special girl, Liza Chase. She was predeceased by her parents; three sisters and five brothers.

Family and friends attended a time of visitation at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris on Sunday evening, January 23, with a brief remembrance service following. Services and burial will be in the spring at Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris.
