Donald Weller

NORWAY — Donald Weller, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2011 surrounded by his family at Stephens Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 8, 1931 in Johnstown, PA, the son of Lloyd and Bessie Weller. He attended Grove City College for his undergraduate studies and Michigan State University for his MBA. He then served in the U.S. Army before marrying Margaret Elizabeth MacKay on March 8, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

He began his 35-year food industry career in Syracuse, NY working for American Stores Co., before moving his family to Cape Elizabeth, where he worked for Hannaford Brothers. He retired in 1987 to enjoy his family and friends at the lake in Norway, and winters in Punta Gorda, FL.

He enjoyed boating, watching his children and grandchildren in their sports and activities and the Boston Red Sox along with a passion for reading. He enjoyed opening his home to his closest friends and family for social gatherings and events.

Mr. Weller is survived by his wife Margaret of 52 years; his son, Mark and his wife Shawn, grandchildren, Lauren and Eric and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Caiden of Cincinnati, OH; his son, Brad and his wife Tara and grandchildren, Addie and Alden of Falmouth and extended church family and members at Burnt Store Presbyterian church, Punta Gorda, FL.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, January 21, at 1 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main Street in South Paris with Rev. Henry Male officiating. Spring interment will be at Spurwink Church in Cape Elizabeth along with a memorial service to be planned in the spring in Punta Gorda, FL.
