GREENWOOD — Nancy Kennison Haines, 65, of Greenwood passed away peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2011 at her home after a short bout of cancer. She was born in Rumford, November 9, 1945, the daughter of Kenneth and Theresa Patrie Kennison. She graduated from CMMC School of Nursing and had worked as a nurse and was a foster parent for many years.
She enjoyed baking, animals, nature, flowers and the outdoors. She loved living on the water and was never tired of looking over the pond. Christmas was her favorite holiday season and she was fortunate enough to make it home for Christmas. Family was very important to her, raising children and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved looking through the eyes of children. She was in touch with her own spirituality.
Survivors include her significant other, Harvey Small of Greenwood; her children, Kenneth Cole and partner Jann Cox of Gilead, Shari Cole and partner Darlene Prejean of Arundel, Christina Haines Doucet and husband Rick of Turner, BethAnne Haines of Mechanic Falls and Joseph Haines of Greenwood; brothers, Kenneth (Jamie) and Donna Kennison of West Paris, David and Anita Kennison of Norway, Erwin (Dooley) and Chris Kennison of South Paris, Peter and Cathy Kennison of Sumner, Herbert and Donna Kennison of Norway, Ralph and Diane Kennison of Mexico, Arnie and Kathy Kennison of West Paris and Jeff and Michelle Kennison of Sumner; sisters, Loretta Crockett and husband Daniel of Auburn, Anna Buck and husband Leroy of Bethel, Helen Young and husband Allen of Norway and Avis Gunther of No. Carolina; grandchildren, Brittany Cole Field and husband Mike, Bronson Cole, Timeka Haines, Alysha Haines and David John Veinott. She had many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Haines; brother, Leroy Kennison; mother, Theresa Patrie Kennison Tailion and her father, Kenneth Kennison.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 15 at 11 a.m. at the Lockes Mills Union Church with an informal gathering to be held after. Family and friends may call at the Andrews Funeral Home, 64 Andrews Road, South Woodstock, Friday evening 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to Responsible Pet Care, 132 Waterford Rd., Norway, ME or Androscoggin Home Health Hospice House, 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, ME.
