Charles H. Knowlton, Sr.
SOUTH PARIS — Charles (Chuck) Harry Knowlton, Sr. went home to Heaven on April 14, 2011. He was born in Denver, CO, August 24, 1932. Soon after his birth he was placed in St. Vincent de Paul’s orphanage in Denver, where he would remain until he was five. He was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Knowlton of Pagosa Springs, CO. He resided in Pagosa until he entered the Navy in 1951; he served during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 25 years. He enjoyed the years of retirement pursuing hobbies of woodworking and painting. He was an active member of the South Paris Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with others of the church.
Mr. Knowlton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Faye; four sons, Virgil and wife Dana of Ganado, TX, Charles Jr. and wife Karen of Beeville, TX, Joseph D. of South Paris and Patrick Alan and wife Shari of Creede, CO; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
It was his wish that instead of flowers for the memorial or plants sent to the home, that donations be made in his name to either the building fund of South Paris Baptist Church or to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 236 Stetson Rd., Auburn, ME 04210.
