Barbara E. Durgin

NORWAY — Barbara E. Durgin, 71, of Norway, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Fryeburg Health Care Center in Fryeburg. She was born in Sanford on June 2, 1939, the daughter of Leonard and Wilma O’Brien Sprague. She grew up in the Norway area and graduated from Bridgton Academy.

She had been a seamstress her whole life. She started working in a dress factory in Bridgton, then in several shoe shops and in her later years she made dog coats and helped her daughter make pocketbooks. She was a member of the Heywood Club in Norway.

Mrs. Durgin is survived by a daughter, Diana Davis and her husband George of Stow; a son, Bryan Durgin and his wife Stephanie of Milton, WI; a sister, Shirley Rogus and her husband Leslie of Waterford; a brother, Donald McAllister of Norway; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Conrad Durgin.

Graveside services will be held later in the spring at Norway Pine Grove Cemetery in South Paris. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 170 U. S.
