Ramona C. Labay

WEST PARIS — Ramona C. Labay, 73, of West Paris, died Friday morning, February 10, 2012 at her home. She was born in Caribou, February 5, 1939, the daughter of Rufus and Evelyn Wardwell Sands. She attended school in the Caribou area. She had been employed at a shoe shop in Auburn, as a guard at Elan in Poland and as secretary for Dick Labay, but most of all she was a full time mom to her family. She was loved by them and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, reading, jewelry making and flower arranging.

Mrs. Labay is survived by her children, George Sjostrom of Rumford, William and Brenda Sjostrom of Greenwood, Erica and Tim Johnson of West Paris and Richard and Vanessa Labay of West Paris; seven grandchildren, Andrea, BJ, Brandon and KC Sjostrom, Erin Hamilton, Kyle Johnson and Sabian Labay and several great-grandchildren. She was number 13 of 19 children and has several brothers and sisters surviving as well as predeceasing her. She also has several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Trudy Hamilton and a son, Carl Sjostrom.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 13 at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris. Spring interment will be in Riverside Annex Cemetery, South Paris. Family and friends called at the funeral home  prior to the service on Monday.
