Board may vote on manager separation agreement Sept. 10
PARIS — According to Town Manager Phil Tarr, the board of selectmen may consider an agreement that would terminate his employment with the town at its next regularly scheduled meeting, September 10.
In late June, selectmen voted not to renew Tarr's contract with the town.
During a special board meeting on August 29, selectmen initialed a document that Tarr says lays out the substance matter of the separation agreement that would nullify his contract.
Tarr says two members of the board met with him on August 25 to work out the details of the agreement. The board then discussed the agreement's substance during an executive session on August 27.
"They brought it [the document] in on Tuesday [August 28] for me to initial," Tarr says.
Selectmen then initialed two copies of the document following an executive session on August 29.
According to Tarr, the document is currently being arranged into a formal agreement by the town's attorney. He hopes to review and sign it this week.
Tarr couldn't discuss the agreement's details, but said he was "happy" with its content.
Tarr has previously stated that he found working in Paris increasingly difficult since the board decided not to renew his contract.
The board is currently in the process of hiring a new town manager.
According to a hiring schedule drawn up by selectmen, the deadline for applications is September 10.
Selectmen hope to have a new manager ready to start in January.
