South Woodstock

SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Brrrr - it’s minus one degrees here at 4 a.m.(Friday, January 25) - the wind has finally died down some and not howling like it was all evening.

I so hope you are all dressing in layers so as to keep toasty warm as you spend time outdoors. I do not go out in this bitter cold weather unless I absolutely have to, doctor’s appointments and booking dates are a must so I have to venture out.

This continuous bitter cold and frigid weather is so terrible and especially hard on the elderly, so please check in on your neighbors and family a couple of times a day.

Condolences are going out to the families of Kathy S. Grover, Bertha M. Bonney, Louise Bovin and Roy S. Johnson. Thoughts and prayers to each family member on the loss of their loved ones.

Thanks to Frank for plowing out the end of our driveway last week. He always takes a few minutes to cuff out the snow from the yard as he passes by after a storm, it’s greatly appreciated.

Love those neighbors who take a second or two to do something nice for someone in passing. We have some great neighbors here in the area and I’m so glad we moved back after being gone for four years.

Continued get well wishes for Betty Davis, Gerry Brown, Louise Guilford, Dotty Packard, Bobby T., Norm D. and Betty D. and to all who are not feeling quite up to par these days, and the flu and pneumonia has surely hit so many really bad this year.

So for those of you who have not gotten a flu or pneumonia shots, please consider doing so - they truly do make a difference.

I so enjoyed a visit with my niece Dori last week, she spent three hours with me. I tried to teach her how to crochet; we did a very basic chain stitch and a single double crochet. She caught on quickly and was doing a good job, even loosening up her stitches so as to make the rows easier to work in.

Birthday wishes this week are going out to Carol Cox, Rhonda Cossar, Kevin Fitzmorris, Sandy Landers and Diane Hanscom.

Time for a cup of hot Ovaltine and to catch the early morning news and weather.

That’s all from the valley this week; enjoy each day, and have a great week.

Quote of the week: “True confession is good for the soul.”
