SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Good morning dear readers, it's a rainy Friday but it will be good for the wells to fill before winter sets in.
Belated birthday wishes to Edith Garey.....so good to see you at the TRIAD program a week ago. I was pleased to see so many turn out for this event.
The first cardinal came to the feeders on Wednesday, it was good seeing him early this season. Now to get more of the winter birds at the feeders, I only had one titmouse last winter, hoping to see more this year, they are such a pretty little bird.
A junco spent time out in the hedges this morning, he seemed to be happy that it was raining as he made his way to and from the feeders enjoying his breakfast.
It's gonna be a damp and cool day so I'm headed for the kitchen to make a homemade corn chowder and a johnny cake for supper. And to put beans on to soak for homemade baked beans for supper Saturday night.
I was so pleased to see Dick Smith a week ago when we entertained for the Veterans. I had not seen him for a few years since his retirement. We used to get our gas and car work done when he owned his garage there in Paris. We will be back to entertain the Veterans next month. We have met so many nice folks there, and they make us feel so welcome.
In my spare time I am busy crocheting and knitting winter hats, mittens, slippers and scarves for Christmas gifts. Keeps me busy on days we are not entertaining for the shut ins.
Get well wishes to the many who are not feeling up to par these days including Dotty Packard, Louise Guilford and Donnie Mason.
So enjoyed having the kids (Craig and April) and grandchildren (T.C. and Spencer) for Sunday supper. We put together a huge chop suey and hot biscuits, with cottage cheese and string beans.
Took a trip to Gorham, NH Tuesday, we stopped at Hartland Restaurant for a small luncheon salad and hot tea. Took several pictures along the way. The foliage color was pretty much gone from the trees, but we enjoyed our ride and our time together.
That's all from the valley this week...stay well and happy.
