West Sumner

WEST SUMNER — I am writing this column with a heavy heart and great sorrow. My son Kendall went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 3. His brain could not take the swelling anymore. The medicine was not helping.

He was hooked up to many tubes and machines that kept him breathing until his daughter Leah came from Indiana. She got to the hospital at 5:45. Ruth, his wife, their five children, Leah, Heather and her husband Doug, Brian, Todd, Marsha, sisters Brenda and Karen, brother Brent and his wife Carol, nephew Ben and his wife Gretchen and son Ethan, myself and Pastor Thurlow who prayed twice were all standing around his bed.

Oh how we hated to let him go. But we had to. We left his room at 8 and the plug was pulled. He was gone by 8:05.

I had a wonderful gift for 49 years. I will always be thankful for his life. I only hope that his illness will help the researchers to find a cure that will help others who have seizures. A special thank you to all who have called me. It surely helps.

The Women's Auxiliary of the West Sumner Fire Department are putting on a ticket auction on October 20, at Buckfield High School. People may start bringing new items or gift certificates by 11 a.m. It would be greatly appreciated.

The auction will start at 1 p.m. The Auxiliary members are raising money to buy jaws of life for the firemen and they don't come cheap. They need two units. If you have any questions, please call Wilda at 388-2981.

Wilda Dunham is recovering from a toe operation. She had pins put into two toes and has been using a walker.
