West Sumner

WEST SUMNER — I want to thank Mike Miles for saying in his Letter to the Editor that he enjoyed reading my columns. Big encouragement — thanks.

There was a big get together last Wednesday at the home of Larry and Carol Labossiere on Green Pond in Oxford. We are the descendants of Solomon and Mary Silver. Solomon was born in 1826. We are all cousins now, third, fourth and fifth and sixth generations.

There were 35 people who attended from surrounding towns and some from Connecticut. There was a young lad, Simon Corbett, who has worked on genealogies. He said our line went as far back as King Edward the Third of England.

We started getting together five years ago. We have pot lunch, which is the best food ever with each family bringing something. Larry and Carol have a beautiful log cabin home built by her cousin, Bobby Scott. A lot of Scotts, Moreys and Warrens attend. My mother would be very pleased if she knew we were getting together.

Summer is fast nearing the end. The cool nights are a welcome. I am not anxious to turn the heat on. Kendell, my son, didn't lose much work last week even though he did have a seizure Monday night. He did come out of it okay and I think that is a good sign his medicine is working.

The reunions are over and now it is fair time. See you at the fair.
