NORTH NORWAY — Wow, weren’t those some thunderboomers last night! Mary told me someone down Oxford way was hit by lightning.
Hope he/she is o.k. I snuggled down in bed and Dell checked the cat who seemed unperturbed and was calmly washing her face.
We had a very enjoyable family reunion up in Newry at Barbara Yates' attractive residence. Joy brought Erwin and Doris over from Dover, NH and everyone got reacquainted as they had not been able to attend when they were living in Colorado.
The food is always the best. Cousin Laura makes a peanut butter pie to die for and someone made peanut butter fudge, my downfall. Oh my!
Dell has been having maintenance work. Dental appointment and cleaning and adjustment of hearing aids. I have finally become adjusted to my diet of garden veggies and do not have to go every week for blood work. We are hoping once a month will suffice.
I have to back off on the greens much as I enjoy them. Seems as if when one reaches a certain age one should be able to eat what you want when you want it, but alas, it doesn’t work that way.
At least we do not live in New York and have the Mayor dictating our diet. Talk about a Nanny State.
Deven Andrews is on vacation this week and has taken his camper and gone off up the coast. Bet it’s an experience to hear the rain pounding on the roof of his camper.
Six has been following Deven around devotedly this week, his little legs just a pumping along trying to keep up with Pappy. He has entered the terrible “two’s” but so far has been quite agreeable except for the occasional “no."
He probably hasn’t got the hang of being terrible yet.
Tricia Perham is on vacation this week and spent the weekend with Frank and Mary. Katri came with her and they went on to spend some time on the coast before returning to Western Mass.
Friday night Mary and Frank entertained at a lobster feed. Pau and Brand, Paula and Dana, Katri and Tricia all helped Mary and Frank demolish the lobsters.
Paula was babysitting last week, first baby Luke then baby Kevin Jr. Sunday afternoon they were both at Pat and Charlie’s. Luke is too small to be getting around yet but Kevin Jr. can swim everywhere.
He should have been in the Olympics. Hasn’t mastered the crawl yet but he works his arms and legs and moves right along. Everything goes right to his mouth, cat toy or whatever.
One has to be vigilant. He doesn’t object when the object is taken away, just goes in search of something else. Shyla, the house cat, seems to have a low opinion of these human babies and shies away from them.
We met Kevin Jr.’s sister, Hannah, and she is a very talented one. Dell and Charlie were having trouble getting the Red Sox game on TV but she took control and fixed them right up. I offered to adopt her as I think she would be a big help with my computer woes.
Yesterday we went to Scarborough for Dell’s appointment for his hearing aids. Pat and Charlie went with us and while we were there we went to Target for our school supplies and so forth, to Home Depot for the men to shop, ate at the Olive Garden, and then stopped by the Christmas Tree Shop. Oh my.
Practically everything was on sale but as we did not need any of it we refrained and just picked up what we went in for.
Wednesday Brad and Judy Barker asked us to go out to lunch with them and we had a nice time. While at the Olive Garden who should appear but Brad and Judy.
They really get around and that is just great. Who knows how long any of us will be able to and Dell’s philosophy is, get going while we can.
It has grown unbearably humid in here and must get a lunch for the hungry one. Do you know how to get a man to do sit-ups? Answer: put the remote control between his feet.
