SOUTH WOODSTOCK — Condolences to the families of Roger Strout, Richard L. Welch and Erland F. (Bing) Noyes. Love and prayers to each family on the loss of their loved ones.

I hope everyone is surviving this terrible humid weather. It truly is bad for those with breathing problems and other health problems. I left the air conditioners on last night as I knew it was supposed to be real humid today.

We spent some time with the residents at the Veterans Home and Market Square Nursing Home this week, it’s always great seeing all those smiling faces and spending our time with them.

I so enjoy Larry Austin and his participation with the veterans. Keep up the great work Larry, we so look forward to seeing you each month.

Looks like the lawns will need mowing again this weekend. That could be an every other weekend chore. I went out the first of the week to use the weedwacker to get some of the trimming done around my flowers, now they look good for another week or so.

Ruth Dragon is spending a few days with her children in Massachusetts this week; sure hope it is much cooler down there for her visit.

Get well wishes are going out to Betty Davis, Jackie Harmon, Donna Palmer, Maude Alice Hadley, Bea Moreau, Maurice and Gloria Hadley and for those who are down with summer colds and allergies.

I have two pair of bluebirds nesting out under the eves. They spend most of the day taking food to their little ones and they so love sitting out on the clothes line poles watching their nests.

Lots of summer activities going on throughout the county - arts festival, summer concerts, yard sales, farmer’s markets, stock car races, a little something for everyone’s pleasure.
