BRYANT POND — Sunday services at the Baptist Church are Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m. and Evening Service at 6 p.m. Prayer meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
An Independence Day service was held at the Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with a cookout following in the Fellowship Hall. Vacation Bible School will be August 6 to 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Franklin Grange 124 met on Monday evening, July 1, at the hall for a regular meeting. Several former members of West Paris Grange attended. The next two meetings will be open meetings with the public invited to attend. July 26 is Community Service Award Night, and the August 6 meeting is Music Night.
As West Paris Grange is closed, both the CWA Chairman and Master were present. Checks from the former West Paris members are to be used as needed. It was very much appreciated as the Grange is trying to do repairs as money allows.
There will be a Blue Grass Show in August.
The program was as follows: Opening Thought, Song "Bringing in the Sheaves," Reading "Maine Weather" by Sharon Silver, Song "Cursing Down the River," Reading "Just a Little Mixed Up" by Ann Morton, Song "In the Good Old Summertime," Reading "The Flag Speaks" by Richard Felt, Game The Parts of a Watch, Music by Richard Felt and Laura Hutchins, Closing Thought, and Song "Count Your Blessings." It was good to see Bertha and Ann back after sickness.
A very special Whitman Memorial Library program will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 10 a.m. for children of all ages. Young children must be accompanied by an adult. Douglas Twitchell, a ventriloquist and story teller, will be the guest that day with his puppets. This is a program not to be missed. Everyone is invited at no charge and light refreshments will be served.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Kenneth Swan.
The Historical Society will meet on Saturday, July 14, at the museum, starting with a 6 p.m. potluck supper. Remember the museum is open Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens met at the Grange Hall on Thursday, July 5. Dinner was served by the Grange and there was no program so members could attend Vera Cross's funeral. The next meeting in August will be a picnic.
On Tuesday, June 26, several traveled to Bridgton to help New Heights Baptist Church with a tent meeting they were holding. Remember Vacation Bible School will be August 6 to 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The 100th Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War Convention was held in Waterville on June 23. Nine members from Judith Grover Tent 17 attended. Three Past National Officers were present, one Past National President, six Department Presidents and four 50-year members or older were present. Department President Elsie Bonney had a very nice convention. Plans are to meet in the same place next year on Saturday, June 29.
Judith Grover Tent 17, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, will meet on July 14, starting with a 6 p.m. potluck supper at the museum.
The museum is now open on Saturdays, from 1 to 4 p.m.
