NORTH NORWAY — Seems my computer ills are cured for now. Now for operator errors, I make no promises. Cannot remember what I have written about recently so please forgive me if I chew my cabbage twice.
We had a Super Sunday luncheon at Pat and Charlie’s with nothing to eat that was doctor approved. But it was good. All the usual suspects attended, Frank, Mary, Paul, Brenda, baby Luke, Deven and Judi, Betty and Dell and of course Pat and Charlie.
And let us not forget Dan, Paula and baby Kevin Jr. Dell watched the game until late but I couldn’t hack it. Besides I have to watch Downton Abbey on Sunday nights even though it runs past my bedtime. I know. I know, we could record it for viewing the next day or so but we haven’t learned how. We are still living in the dinosaur age.
It was snowing so hard here we did not go to the AARP luncheon and meeting but Pat and Charlie braved the elements and went. Said there were quite a few brave souls who made it. The speaker cancelled so it was eat and run.
Tuesday we drove down to Portland to attend the Marine Corps luncheon and had a very good time. They have taken to serving a buffet. The chicken and lasagna were delicious as well as the apple crisp but the vegetables had been passed through hot water very fast and might as well been served as raw veggies with dip.
This is the fashion now so I might as well get used to it. At a regular restaurant I always send my vegetables back with orders to cook them. I can hear them now when I enter, “Here she comes again, sigh. Old bat wants her vegetables cooked.” Can you imagine!
Valentines Day, Pat and Charlie picked us up and we met Frank and Mary at Maurice’s for lunch. Mary had made reservations for us and a good thing as they were turning away those without. Had a lovely lunch. The guys always take out us lovely ladies for Valentines, it has become tradition.
Dell went to the recycling center this morning and I loaded him down with a basket of magazines and catalogues. They sure accumulate fast. Rachel from cardmember services calls me regularly, almost every day, even though I hang up on her.
She is the kind of friend who doesn’t give up on you. We unexpectedly received new credit cards in the mail and when I called them was told our cards were compromised. Someone hacked into a store's accounts and many of us had to be issued new cards. Nothing on the internet is secure and you better not forget it.
It can come back and bite you at any time. I try to limit what I put out there but more and more I find shopping from home is so much easier than going to these big mega stores.
Dell is back from grocery shopping and hulling strawberries so guess I had better pull up my carcass and get cracking. I just read that December 31 was Make up your Mind Day. I am a great ditherer and I missed that day entirely so another year to dither.
Also read that many feel that the government should have the responsibility and authority over the maintenance of our bodies. That would also mean that the government would have the the power to approve or withhold care. Where is individual responsibility? Think about it. Afraid we have already lost that battle.
My advice for this week is “commit random acts of kindness.”
