Hebron Selectmen hold work session

HEBRON - Faced with an empty meeting agenda, the selectmen chose to have a work session.

Before wading in to the work of formulating the town's first-ever personnel policies and practices manual, the board covered a few subjects.

Selectman Dan Eichorn said he expected to have a full report on the transfer station's physical plant at the next meeting. The project, most of which involves the construction of a new shed and slight rearrangement of the various components of the station, has been held up, pending Department of Environmental Protection approval.

Road Commissioner Warren Packard told the board that the summer maintenance projects were very nearly finished. Only one culvert remained to replace before snow fell. Packard also said he felt ready for the onset of winter operations, although recruiting part-time drivers was not terribly successful.

The selectmen and Packard discussed the pros and cons of buying a small used dump truck or a large, non-dumping pickup truck for uses as an auxiliary plow truck. No decision was reached, however. Packard said he was still looking over the marketplace to see what was available, and what it would cost.

The board then started to work on the policies manual, but did not produce a usable draft by the end of the meeting.
