Fire claims 11 chickens, coop

COOP CATCHES FIRE — A chicken coop located at 54 Mechanic Falls Road in Oxford caught fire February, 9 around 6 a.m., and claimed the lives of 11 of the 12 chickens in the coop, said Oxford Fire Capt. Shawn Cordwell. According to Cordwell,  it appears that a heat lamp in the coop ignited the fire, which firefighters, including the Poland Fire Department, managed to knock down quickly.
