A few minutes and pow -- the November 27 snow squall

THE POWER STAYED ON – Claude Frenette, 49, of Berlin, NH, was driving his 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck on Route 26, in Oxford, headed north, about 5 p.m., when he lost control on an icy patch and hit a utility pole. His passenger, Sandra Tanguay, 48, also of Berlin, had minor arm lacerations, but refused transportation to a hospital.

GENERATIONAL CLASH — A carload of Portlanders, driven by Bruce Alley, 61, along with his passengers, the Sullivans, Beverly, 64, Janet, 59, and Peter, 63, skidded on black ice on Route 26 at 4:30 p.m., November 27. The 2003 Isuzu crossed the centerline and struck a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Damien Fisk, 28, of Buckfield with Laura Lengyel, 27, of Buckfield, his passenger. All but Fisk were transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital, in Norway, by Oxford Rescue and PACE ambulance crews, police said, but noted that the injuries were not life-threatening.

DRIVER ARRESTED – Jacob Lane, 20, of Bethel, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after his car left Route 118, in Norway, Saturday, and rolled over. (photo by Chuck Blaquiere)

OOOPS – Roy Johnson, 66, of Norway, was reminded of how slick new snow can be when the Chevrolet van he was driving for his employer skidded off Harrison Road and into the trees during the sudden snow squall around 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, November 27. He was not seriously injured, police said.
