Oxford Casino opens to the public

Investors and management of the Oxford Casino and Oxford town officials cut the ribbon offically opening the casino during an invitation-only event on Tuesday. The Casino opened its doors to the public at 6 p.m. and will be open 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Bob Bahre, principal initial investor in the Oxford Casino speaks during a ceremony held to open the building on Tuesday. Bahre congratulated everyone for their hard work and said that they "couldn't find a better place" for the casino. Other speakers, including Casino General Manager Jack Sours, Oxford Town Manager Michael Chammings, Oxford Selectboard Chair Floyd Thayer and John Williams, the Executive Director of the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce praised the casino for creating jobs in the community and honored all the hard work put into making the casino a reality.

A view of the central table-gaming area of the newly-finished Oxford Casino. The casino boasts 500 slot machines, a dozen table games, a restaurant and a lounge. Casino officials say that an expansion is already underway that will make the gaming floor abour 50 percent larger.
