County RCC sponsors training

SOUTH PARIS — Oxford County Regional Communications Center is sponsoring its first training conference for all emergency first responder agencies in Oxford County on Saturday, April 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Paris Fire Station, 137 Western Avenue.

Director James P. Miclon said, “We are excited to invite all the agencies throughout Oxford County to attend this all day session to learn about the communications center, its staff and the new radio system being implemented.”

In the morning, Richard D. Davol of Communications Consulting, Inc., will present an active demonstration of microwave and repeater systems, along with narrow band radio requirements, and later in the day communications staff will discuss emergency dispatcher duties and how both the users and dispatchers can make communicating easier, according to Miclon.

Finally, the afternoon will be a time for the communications director, staff and first responders to set goals and expectations for the coming year. “This is an important step in better communications between the center and its users,” Miclon said.

Miclon would like everyone involved with the communications center to come and be a part of the day-long event.

A spaghetti dinner will be provided at the conference. Those wanting to attend should R.S.V.P. by Friday, April 1, by e-mail at oxfrccdir@megalink.net or by phone at 743-9554, extension 105 or 109.

“Let’s communicate together and work for a better future,” Miclon said.
