Father, daughter ok after roll-over

OXFORD - Two cars crashed November 1, but there were no major injuries, police say.

Oxford Police Chief Jon Tibbetts said a 2005 Jeep SUV driven by Scott Cummings, 46, of Oxford, left the travel lane on Route 26 near the New Balance Outlet and struck a utility pole. Tibbetts said Cummings was distracted, but not exceeding the speed limit. The SUV rolled over after the crash, knocking the pole over and bringing down wires.

Barbara Bradbury, 49, also of Oxford, was in the car immediately behind Cummings, and couldn't avoid the wires brought down by the SUV crash. Her 2005 Chevrolet sedan sustained about $2,000 in damage, but Bradbury was unharmed, Tibbetts said. The Jeep, which belonged to Cummings' mother, was a total loss.

Cummings was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital, in Norway, by Oxford Rescue, for non-life threatening injuries and discharged later that day, said the police chief, adding that neither Bradbury nor Cummings' teenage daughter, a passenger in his car, were injured.

The crash remains under investigation, so police declined to indicate if Cummings will receive a summons.
