Norway businesses to be profiled on NPC-TV
BUSINESS BROADCAST — Members of the Norway Business Association pose in front of the NPC-TV sign in downtown Norway. The group has initiated a program that will allow local businesses to be profiled in half-hour shows on the local cable station.
NORWAY —The Norway Business Association (NBA) has unveiled a program that will highlight Norway's independent businesses in 30-minute video profiles broadcast on public access TV.
According to an NBA press release, the program, tenatively named "Norway Business Association – Your Key to the Town" will profile local businesses, giving owners a chance to talk about their business, describe the goods and services available and give a history of themselves and their enterprise.
The program will also spotlight community events in Norway.
"We just want to let people know that we're here, to shop local, to keep dollars local instead of going to the big box stores," says Anne Mallory, an NBA spokesperson. "Norway has a lot to offer."
The program, which is being filmed and produced in collaboration with NPC-TV Manager Steve Galvin, will cost a nominal fee that will be used to cover the station's costs.
Business owners will have options in how many minutes they want for their profiles; Mallory says that two minutes will cost $75, while a full 30 minutes can cost between $250-$300.
According to Mallory, a single program could feature five to seven shorter segments or a one full half-hour profile.
As well as airing the program on NPC-TV, business owners will also be given a DVD of the program that they can upload to their website or facebook page, or just play in their store.
In the future, the program could also be picked up by 90 other public access stations across Maine.
Mallory says that she has already heard from local owners that want to be a part of the project.
"Now that we're getting it out there I have heard from other business owners that 'yeah, this is a great idea, I want to get on board,'" she says. "It's kind of exciting."
For nearly 100 years, the NBA has supported local businesses and encouraged consumers to spend their money within the community.
