PARIS — Bob Kirchherr has announced his candidacy for Paris Selectman. His nomination petition has been certified by the town clerk and he will be running for one of two open positions on the board in this June’s election.

A Paris resident for more than 21 years, he has served on the Paris Planning Board since 2007 and is currently its chair.

Kirchherr retired in 2007 from Central Maine Community College after almost 25 years of service. While at CMTC he served as Director of Library Media Services, Chair of the Computer Technology Department, Director of the TRIO program and was Associate Academic Dean. He was instrumental in founding the Oxford Hills Higher Education Initiative and was its first director. Before working at CMTC he worked in SAD 17 for more than five years.

According to Kirchherr, he is seeking office to achieve fiscal responsibility in Paris, given the economic climate. He also said that he wants to make sure that when Paris citizens speak, the board hears them and that the board addresses citizen comments and questions.

Kirchherr pledged to explore how resources and services could be shared among the towns and communities that surround Paris.
