TPIR – Once again, The Price is Right will be a fundraiser for the Poland Regional High School Project Graduation. Peter Ford will be returning as Bob Barker. Pictured also are Terry Girouard and Sue Goulet from the Project Graduation Committee.

POLAND — Come on down! You could be the next contestant on The Price is Right.

On Saturday, March 26, just like the TV show, contestants will come on down for a chance to win prizes and benefit a great cause at the same time: the Poland Regional High School Project Graduation.

According to Sue Goulet, committee member, there will be eight sets of games and two big-wheel spins on game night.

“Contestants will be called down from the audience to play a pricing game,” she said. “And there are eight chances to win. To give more people a chance to 'Come on Down,' every game will mean another set of contestants.”

“Two people will compete for the final showcase,” she added.

Peter Ford and Dana Lee will once again host the show as Bob Barker and Rod Roddy, and their support has been very important to the success of the event.

“Pete and Dana have been the face of The Price is Right since it started 13 years ago,” explained Goulet. “Ford is well-known and is a true community leader and Dana, with his personality and humor, will keep the action going all night.”

Great prizes will be won, including a dishwasher from Agren Appliance and a hand-crafted entertainment center donated by the Whittier family and made by Bobby’s Rule.

“Besides the game show, there will be silent auction tables, raffles and a live auction of the showcase items not chosen or won.”

Refreshments will also be on sale, including hot dogs, popcorn, snacks and drinks.

And for this evening of fun, the graduating seniors at Poland Regional High School will also get a chance for a fun-filled evening aimed to keeping them safe the night of graduation.

They will be whisked off for a full night of alcohol and drug-free excitement.

“This benefit is for the seniors!” exclaimed Goulet. “But I can’t tell you where they are going; it’s a secret. I can tell you that it will be a great night filled with games, entertainment, dancing to their favorite DJ and much more.”

Goulet is not new to Project Graduation.

“My high school class in Wells was the one of the first high schools in Maine to do a Project Grad event,” she smiled. “For a few of my classmates, it was the last time we would ever see each other again. I am glad I had the chance to spend graduation night with them.”

This drug and alcohol-free evening will set the stage for a new chapter in these young adult’s lives.

“I hope the PRHS class of 2011 will make just as many life-long memories at this year’s Project Graduation event as I did at mine,” sighed Goulet. “The memories they make that night will stay with them forever.”

Doors to the PRHS Auditorium open at 5 p.m. and the game will start promptly at six. Advance tickets are only $6 and will be $10 at the door. Tickets are available at the Mechanic Falls Town Office, PRHS, Elm Street School and the Minot Town Office. People can buy extra chances to Come on Down at the door as well.
