Raided building sold

NORWAY - One of the buildings searched by state and federal officers last summer has a new owner.

The Oxford County Register of Deeds - East, confirmed that Mechanics Savings Bank, of Lewiston foreclosed against the building at 180 Main Street, formerly owned by Harvey and Dawn Solomon, in October, and resold, by the bank, at auction to Carol Lundell, of Poland, for a winning bid of $182,000.

Lundell could not be reached for comment.

Before foreclosure started the building was advertised at a price of $259,000, which included the 1.2 acre lot and a 1916-bungalow-style building that had been converted for use as an office by an orthopedic physician, then converted to more conventional office space.

In mid-July agents of the Maine Attorney General's Office, State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Inspector General raided 180 Main Street, and 172 Main Street, another business owned by the Solomons. The officers declined to answer questions at the scene and Michael Miller, the Assistant Maine Attorney General, who directed the operation from Augusta, said only that an investigation was ongoing and she wasn't at liberty to respond to questions.

The office Miller works with in Augusta is assigned to the prosecution of Medical Fraud. The various businesses operating in the two buildings included "Infinite Horizons, Living Independence Network Corporation, Opal Consulting, Mystic Tours and Travel, Horizon Companies, Metaphysical Boutique and New Horizon Capital Investments, LLC. There was no indication given as to which, or if all, of the businesses were under suspicion, or of what. Within a few weeks, all of the entities had closed.

However, no arrests were made and the AG's office has not yet commented further, except that Miller has said the investigation might extend for years.
