Hit and run in Norway

NORWAY — Kelly MacGregor, 48, of Kapote Drive in Norway, was issued a court summons for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage crash following an alleged hit and run on March 10.

According to a report from Norway PD, MacGregor allegedly backed her silver Dodge Neon into a Black Mazda RX7 owned by Claudia Day-Strout, also of Norway, in the parking lot of the Cumberland Farms on Main Street.

Witnesses, including Day-Strout's daughter, who was in the waiting in the car that was struck, told Day-Strout that they had seen MacGregor back into her car and then leave the scene. One witness wrote down the license plate number of the offending vehicle, which led authorities to MacGregor.

According to police reports, the incident followed an argument between MacGregor's daughter, Michelle Dugas, and her boyfriend, a clerk at Cumberland farms. MacGregor hurried Dugas out of the store to avoid causing a scene.

Norway Police Officer Stephen Witham investigated the incident. He reported that, upon going to MacGregor's house, he found the vehicle reported by witnesses. MacGregor acknowledged being there at the time of the alleged incident, but denied making contact with another car as she left the parking lot with her daughter. Witham did find, however, that there were scratches on the right-rear corner of the Neon for which MacGregor could offer no explanation.

Witham reported that, after considering all of the facts and claims made by witnesses, he decided to issue MacGregor a summons and set a court date of June 16.

There were no reported injuries related to the incident, but Day-Strout's vehicle did sustain minor damages on the passenger-side door
