Layaway plan offered for Nateva tickets

OXFORD —If Nateva concert ticket prices of $169 to $194 are a little too steep, a new move by concert promoters may bring them back within reach.

Last week, the festival announced that it would begin offering a "Layaway Ticket Purchase Program," which allows would-be festival goers to spread out the cost of the tickets over three months.

"We're going to try this out on a limited basis to see how it works for us all," said festival promoters.

Those who choose to purchase the three-day pass or the four-day pass will be able to pay the first third online. In mid-April and late, May, subsequent payments are charged to the attendee's credit card. The event will take place this summer, beginning August 4 at the Oxford fairgrounds.

"We hope that being able to spread the credit card payments out over several months makes it easier for you to join us," said a released statement from festival promoters.

Those who take advantage of the program will pay roughly $15 more for their tickets.

The concept of layaway concert prices is not new. In 2009, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival of Indio, California offered a payment plan as a response to the nation's faltering economy.

They were preceded by the Stagecoach Country Music Festival, Country Thunder USA, and the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, which offered layaway tickets in 2008, according to news reports.

The Nateva band lineup is expected to be announced soon.
