How are you coping with rising home heating costs?

Photo:

I'm retired and my wife is retired, so it's not affecting us that badly. We do have wood heating, and try to keep it at 65 during the day, 45 at night. I just wish they'd get natural gas around here.

I switched to wood this year. I cut it myself. It's working out good. I'm saving money.

I took the air conditioners out, first of all! We use Eco-Blocks. The BTUs are a little higher, and it's cleaner and easier than wood, because you can always get them at the store. I buy them in Paris, or at Aubuchon.

I just moved here from Ohio. In Ohio, everywhere there is natural gas. In our new place, we have fuel oil and a wood burner, and have no idea how to use them. This is our first winter here. I've been told that eco-blocks [compressed firewood] are something I should look into.

We use wood. We always have. We cut our own wood and try never to turn on the heat. I feel for the people who have to spend so much on oil.

It sucks. I've got five tanks that I fill in the summertime. I watch the prices, and when the crude oil prices start to go back up, I buy as much as I can.

We've been living with my inlaws, so we're not paying the heating bill right now, but it's been a problem in trying to find our own place to rent. We need to have a place with the heat included, and that's hard.

I burn wood. I've done that for a while. It's cheaper.

I'm burning wood. That's all you can do. I've been doing it since I first came up here in 1979.

I switched to a wood pellet stove three years ago. We like it, and it saves us money.
