NPFG Fishing Derby set
NORWAY — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association has set the weekend of February 23 and 24 for their annual ice fishing derby. The club opens the derby to all area lakes and ponds. Fish need to be weighed in at the Little Red School House on Norway Lake between the hours of sunrise and sunset.
Tickets for the derby are $1 and will also enter you into a drawing for some really nice prizes, including, but not limited to, an L.L. Bean rod donated by L.L. Bean, Oxford Plains 250 Tickets, gift certificates from Dag's Bait & Tackle, Farrrar's Deer Processing, Black Brook Campground, Dad's Trailside B&B, Melby's Market, a headlamp from Woodman's, streamers from S&F Streamers, a set of ice fishing traps and a sport sled from Rob's Bait. Other items are still coming in.
Tickets are available from club members, local sports shops or at the derby. The money raised from the derby goes into the general fund to help the club send several local youngsters to the University of Maine 4-H Camp at Bryant Pond.
Fish stories, homemade goodies and lunch will be available at the Little Red School House both derby days. Stop in for laughs and lunch. All children 12 and under will receive a prize for entering any fish. $50 each for the largest bass, togue, pike, salmon, pickerel, brown trout, brook trout or splake in both adult and junior categories.
