Downhill Derby to benefit WinterKids

GREENWOOD — The inaugural Downhill Derby, an epically fun 24-hour downhill ski challenge to benefit WinterKids, will take place Saturday, March 9 through Sunday, March 10.

Hosted by Mt. Abram, the Downhill Derby begins Saturday, March 9 at 12 p.m. and ends Sunday, March 10 at 12 p.m. The Downhill Derby aims to raise funds for WinterKids' programs, so that more Maine children can develop healthy lifelong habits through fun, outdoor winter activity.

In addition to corporate sponsorship and the registration fee, Derby racers will be encouraged to create team fundraising pages where they'll be able to upload photos, add their personalized "Winter Kid" stories (i.e. why you think it's important for kids to get outside and active in the winter), and then share the page with friends, family and colleagues.

Form a team with your friends and family. There is a 50-team limit, so reserve your spot early and create a team now. Your other team members can sign up and join your team at a later time. Just be sure to tell them your Team Name! Teams must be a minimum of five people and a maximum of 10. All participants must be at least 12 years old.
