Basketball tournament planned at CMCC

AUBURN — The Central Maine Community College Athletic Department is pleased to announce it has received the bid for the 2013 Yankee Small College Basketball Tournament scheduled for Friday through Monday, February 15-18.

The tournament will consist of eight women’s teams and eight men’s teams representing the Yankee Conference. The two winners (women’s and men’s) receive an automatic bid to the USCAA National Tournament in Uniontown, PA in March.

The Yankee Conference consists of 15 college teams from Maine, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The format is an elite eight format single elimination tournament with the winners advancing.

The event also features the Yankee Conference Banquet where the academic and basketball all conference players are announced.

According to Yankee Conference President Paul Hogan, “The YSCC is pleased to announce the YSCC Elite 8 Conference Basketball Championships to be held at Central Maine Community College in February 2013. The CMCC fan base and support for small college athletics should prove to be very exciting for our conference championships.”
