Vikings bring Coach Graffam 300th win
OXFORD HILLS — The Vikings earned their second win of the season and a special win over Mt. Blue on Friday night. The victory was the 300th in Coach Scott Graffam's career.
The win came from a hot start by the Vikings over a young Cougar team. You might think that a quick start would make the team able to sit back and relax, but they fought all the way until the end.
Right off the bat Jake Plummer hit a jumper from the foul line for two points. Luke Davidson got two points off a nice finger roll. Late in the first quarter John Frechette heated up with a three pointer and then an and one jumper from the foul line but he missed the foul shot. Ben Morton scored off a layup and played good defense.
Andrew Fleming started off the second half on fire. He hit a three-pointer and two jumpers with his feet on the line. Riley Chickering finished off a break-away with a layup. Plummer went crashing into his home bench trying to save a loose ball. He sat out the rest of the game with a bloody mouth and sore neck.
The Vikings were also playing without three other players. In the the third quarter Frechette and Davidson both had layups and Fleming drove to the rim for a floater.
The game ended with a score of 66-26 and cheers for Coach Graffam. The 301 victory could be Thursday, December 27 at 2 p.m. in the OHCHS gym when they take on Bangor.
The boys also play Saturday, December 29, at 2 p.m. vs. Erskine.
