Grant helps build ramp

GRANT — L.L.Bean Maine Land Trust Grant Program has awarded the Western Foothills Land Trust a $4,000 grant towards an accessible entrance and ramp for the Roberts Farm Preserve Warming Hut. Ramp and deck construction have begun should be completed by January 10. The ramp will provide universal access to the hut, and the deck will allow for an additional gathering area and a second egress to and from the warming hut, pivotal for after school ski programs. Anticipated costs for the ramp and deck exceed $14,000. The Trust has undertaken a timber stand improvement harvest on the southern portion of the Preserve: funds from the harvest will be used to augment any grants and directed donations that are received.
