Harrison ski, snowboard program to begin

HARRISON — The “snow’mazing” Ski & Snowboard Program for Harrison residents K-12th grade runs for seven weeks, at Shawnee Peak, starting on the first Friday in January. Also held on Fridays at Shawnee Peak is the Waterford Program.

This is “snow’mazing” news for both towns, especially for the kiddo’s. Harrison and Waterford now share their schools with each other, and with both programs being at Shawnee Peak on the same day, these guys n’ gals on boards and skis have more “snow’mazing” time together – outside of their classrooms.

The remaining two sign-ups, held at the Harrison Community Room on Edes Falls Rd., above the Fire Station, are Friday, November 16, from 5:30-7 p.m. and Friday, November 30, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. (also equipment fittings/paperwork).

Harrison students who attend WES: HES parents will still drop off equipment at HES. Program participants will ride the WES Ski Bus with their Waterford friends from WES to Shawnee Peak to join their Harrison Program.

Harrison students who attend HES: Same as last year; HES parents will drop off equipment at HES. Program participants will ride the HES Ski Bus with their Waterford friends to Shawnee Peak.

Waterford students who attend HES: Waterford participants will ride the HES Ski Bus with their Harrison friends to Shawnee Peak to join their Waterford Program. (See your Waterford Ski Program Coordinator for Waterford Program details.)

Middle school and high school students: Will ride the 2 p.m.Ski Bus from OHCHS to HES; pick up chaperones, participants and equipment and head to Shawnee Peak. (MS and HS parents will drop off equipment at HES.)

Community service and volunteer paperwork is still being accepted and payment plans can still be set up at this time. Shirts, pants and sweatshirts will be available to try on and ordering for size at both sign-ups.

All program coordinators will be available on November 16 and November 30 to help you with your program selections and discuss program details.

Shawnee Peak staff will be doing all equipment fittings at the November 30 sign up for everyone who has signed up for rental equipment.
