Firefighters vs. Police – who will win?

PARIS — The challenge is on for the sixth annual Police vs. Firefighters slow pitch softball game.

For four consecutive years, the Police won the benefit game played for REACH, Oxford County’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services. Last year however, Firefighters vowed to take home their first win and successfully won the game.

This makes way for even more competition this year.

Enjoy a summer afternoon and an old fashioned ball game right here at home, and watch the fun between the police and firefighters. Game day is Sunday, September 9 at 4 p.m. at the Gouin ball field, Alpine Street in South Paris.

The game kicks off with a Home Run Derby at 3:30 p.m. Matt Boutwell, voice of the Vikings on WOXO and fan favorite, will announce the game.

Refreshments will be sold at the Snack Shack with all the usual favorites; there will also be a 50/50 raffle.

The benefit softball game tickets are $3, children under 12 free. Tickets are available at South Paris/Norway/Oxford Police and Fire Departments, as well as the REACH office. Come cheer on your favorite players and enjoy a day of family fun.

Funds raised will be used to continue REACH’s Personal Safety Programs to kindergarten through high school students in schools throughout Oxford County. Over the past school year, REACH Educators provided 200 presentations to approximately 2,000 students, parents and school staff.
