Added sponsors increase prizes

POLAND — Western Maine Veterans’ Advisory Committee (WMVAC) is pleased to add several sponsors to the second annual Golf Tournament scheduled for August 25 at Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland. The tournament will use a scramble format and will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Adding sponsorship to this year’s event are:

Oxford Casino - a chance to win $100,000 for a hole in one on the 18th hole. Golfers may purchase a ticket for $5. Four tickets are drawn at the conclusion of the tournament, and each golfer gets a chance to get a hole-in-one from 165 yards. Any golfer who gets a hole-in-one goes home with $100,000.

WMVAC - a second chance to win $100,000 for a hole in one. Players can buy an additional ticket for the same play as above. Four more tickets will be drawn, giving another four golfers each a chance to take home $100,000 for his hole-in-one.

Emerson Toyota - “Test drive the Calloway RazrX Black Driver and Win it” enables each golfer in the tournament to demo this new driver from Calloway. The golfer with the longest drive takes this special club home.

Oxford Hills Funeral Services - From Odyssey, the White Ice Putter will be the gift going to the player who is closest to the pin.

Other prizes that will be raffled off are golf passes to area courses including Point Sebago and Augusta Country Club.

A recliner, which can be won by any player hitting a hole-in-one on the 11th hole, has been donated by Aaron’s of Oxford.

On the second hole, the prize for hitting a hole-in-one is a 2012 Chevy Sonic, sponsored by Goodwin’s Chevrolet in Oxford.

WMVAC is the sponsor for this event that supports our veterans. All funds received from this event will be used exclusively for activities and needs of the veterans at the Maine Veterans' Home in South Paris. A catered meal is included in the tournament fee and will be served in the upper function room at Fairlawn after all golfers are off the course. Prizes, awards and grab bags will be presented at the conclusion of the meal.
