RIPPING DOWN — Seniors Jake Plummer and Dakota Durgin rip down a rebound vs. Mt. Blue.

OXFORD HILLS — The varsity basketball team had their last regular season home game on Tuesday, February 5. The Seniors, Jake Plummer, Dakota Durgin, Kenny Lynch, Ryan Godin, Jordan Croteau and John Frechette really packed the house.

It was by far the biggest turn out of the season.

The band played and the seniors and their parents were applauded by the crowd. The Vikings stayed right with Edward Little, the second seeded Red Eddies were ahead 17-15 at half-time. Unfortunately, the Eddies pulled away in the third quarter.

The student section started chanting, "We want Durgin!" repeatedly. When Coach Graffam subbed Dakota Durgin in, he scored – the fans were cheering so loudly that nothing could be heard.

The Eddies came away with a 60-45 victory.

The Vikings didn't let the loss earlier in the week affect them when they went to Mt. Blue on Thursday night.

The Cougars of Mt. Blue came out tough wanting to give their seniors a win for their last game in their high school career.

Oxford Hills won this match up 55-51. The Vikings were led by Luke Davidson with 21 points and Jake Plummer and Andrew Fleming each scored 11 in the win.

Luckily for the Vikings, it wasn't their last game. The Vikings played a preliminary playoff game vs. Mt. Ararat on Wednesday, February 13.

Check in next week to see the results of the game. If they win they will be playing at the Augusta Civic Center for the first time. In 2005, the Vikings made the playoffs and played at the Bangor Auditorium.

The Lady Vikings also play Mt. Ararat in the tournament. Their game is Friday at 3 p.m. at the ACC.
