Oct. 19 - Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, 10 a.m. UMF Fitness and Recreation Center
This course trains participants to respond to emergencies in their communities, workplaces and homes. Participants will learn to respond and care for unconscious victims, breathing emergencies, sudden illness, bleeding, and more. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice with a certified instructor, participants will gain confidence in caring for adults, children and infants. After completing all requirements of the course, participants will receive American Red Cross adult, child and infant CPR/AED and first aid certifications valid for two years. Oct. 20 - Hope Elephants & Camden Hills Hike, 10:15 a.m. Meet at the UMF Fitness & Recreation Center.
Join in for a visit to Hope Elephants in Hope. Hope Elephants has two retired circus elephants that live on a compound near Camden. After visiting with the elephants participants will go to Camden Hills State Park and explore the parks trails as well as take in the views of Camden. Bring a lunch and your camera! Cost is $15, open to the public. Minimum age 13. Under 13, allowed with pre-approval and adult supervision. For more information, call 778-7495.
Oct. 20 - Lifeguard Training, 6 p.m., UMF Fitness and Recreation Center
Under the new curriculum released by the American Red Cross, lifeguard participants will be trained to prepare, prevent and respond to emergencies in and around the water. Successful completion of the course will gain participants a two-year certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. To enter the course candidates must pass a pre-course swimming skill evaluation. See course information for cost. Open to the public.
