It Is Pie Time Again
At our Third Trimester assembly on June 7, one name was drawn from all of our winners throughout the school year. That person was Blake Atkisson, a student in Mrs. Fleming's kindergarten class. Pictured you see Blake and Mr. Sincerbeaux receiving his pie. As usual everyone had a good time watching this — except perhaps Mr. Sincerbeaux.

Once again we were lucky enough to have the Oxford Masonic Lodge sponsor Books for Bikes. All of our students in PreK-6 were able to submit the list of books they have read and had their names put into a drawing for a free bicycle. The Oxford Masonic Lodge purchased 16 bikes for us — one for a boy and one for a girl in grades K-6. The winners pictured were: PreK - Ruby Jondreau and Conner Deschene, K - Avery Hilden and Quintin Bandy, Grade 1 - Andrew Hunt and Paytyn Footman, Grade 2 - Allegra Meagher and Taylor Little, Grade 3 - Connor Kimball and Kelsey Wood, Grade 4 - Aleaha Pacheco and Nathaniel Wall, Grade 5 - Allyson Friend and James Littlefield and Grade 6 - Luci Bittner and Garrett White.
We want to greatly thank the Oxford Masonic Lodge, Tyler Knightly and all of those involved in this wonderful program for our school.
Garelick Farm Art Contest Winner
This spring art teacher Alisa Blundon had several of our students submit art work for the Garelick Farm Art Contest titled "Pure Happiness." There were a total of over 600 pieces submitted in Oxford County from students K-6. We were informed this past Friday that Rowe 6th grader Kim Welter is the overall winner. Kim will receive a $500 prize as well as a $500 prize for our art department, which Ms. Blundon plans to use to purchase sketchbooks for grades 2-6. Congratulations, Kim and Ms. Blundon!

Summer is the season for being outdoors and having fun in the sun. It is a time for enjoying barbecues, swimming, biking and many other activities. Unfortunately, it is also a time when many accidents occur — accidents that could have been avoided. Below are some tips to help you and your family have a safe summer:
- Never go swimming alone
- Never leave your children unattended in or near the water (pool, lake, etc.)
- Protect your family from sun exposure by using a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 30
- Encourage your children to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration
- Never allow children to ride as passengers on lawn mowers
- Allow only one person at a time on a trampoline and do not allow somersaults
- Warn children about the dangers of lightning — avoid standing near trees
- Make sure your children wear helmets and other safety gear when riding a bicycle or scooter, and while rollerblading or skateboarding
- Make sure all your passengers are wearing seat belts in your car. Children under the age of 12 should sit in the back seat.
Norway Recreation and Library Registration
On June 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. the Norway Recreation and the Norway Library programs will be at Rowe School for their annual summer registration for activities and services. Parents can come in and register their children for the many activities offered through the recreation department and the library. Make sure you take advantage of the great programs they offer.
