WRITERS — The high school English students of Oxford Hills Christian Academy finished up their month-long novel writing endeavor at midnight on November 30, the official end of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Twenty-one students and their English teacher participated. The students were excited about meeting their word count goals and about finally holding their printed manuscripts in their hands. High school students wrote novels of 5,000 words to 60,000 words, and all together the group wrote nearly 600,000 during the month of November. They are letting their novels rest during December and will return to them in January to begin the editing process. Since their experience with NaNoWriMo at least a couple of students now feel attracted to pursuing careers as writers. For all of them, the sense of accomplishment at the end was incredible. They learned that often things that seem impossible are really things you can achieve when you set your mind to it.
