Washburn wins scholarship

LA MIRADA, CA — Harrison resident Kathe Washburn, a freshman at Biola University, was among 132 students who received one of the college's highest scholarships - the Provost's scholarship - for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Freshman are considered for this scholarship upon admission to the university based on their GPA and SAT scores. The requirements of the scholarship are a GPA between 3.2 and 3.5 along with an SAT score of 1350-1500. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 to continue to receive the following year.

At a special luncheon in honor of the award recipients, provost and senior vice president David Nystrom encouraged students as they embarked on their academic careers.
