OXFORD HILLS — A Lego Robotics Club, representing the Oxford Hills area, recently placed third overall in a state competition held on April 18, in Kennebunk.
The club is made up of homeschoolers, ages nine to 13, who meet weekly during the academic year to design and create robots made of Legos in preparation for various state competitions.
The competition held in Kennebunk was a track meet format. Each member was responsible for creating a robot to compete in an event. Results from each event were compiled to determine overall team standings.
The club secured a first place finish in the strongest robot event, a second place finish in the delivery mission event, a third place finish in the robot speed build, gold standard placements in the steeple chase and ping pong shot put, along with a strong showing in the slope climb to take third place overall.
