Missy Morgan, OPS driver, comes to Agnes Gray
WEST PARIS — The students of Agnes Gray Elementary had a grand surprise on Wednesday. A special guest greeted them for their final school assembly. Oxford Plains Speedway driver Missy Morgan came out to visit the students and support the school's big summer reading program. She spoke to the students about the importance of summer reading and also supported TDBank's goal for students to read 10 books and earn $10.
The inspiration for Missy Morgan's visit started with one first grade student, who a couple weeks before had written a story all about Missy and her husband racing at the speedway. Andrew Robinson's story stuck with his teacher, when on a recent Sunday, Ms. Lidstone overheard a woman in a restaurant at a nearby table sharing that she races at OPS. Ms. Lidstone interrupted and shared that one of her students loves to watch her race so much that he had written a story about her. Their conversation continued until it was decided that Missy would come out to school to surprise Andrew and all his schoolmates.
Missy came with a general aspirations message. You can be what you want to be by working hard and going for it. Missy brought every student tickets to the raceway. She signed autographs, took pictures with the students, and talked about her aspirations of being a racer. Students loved having a local celebrity come visit their school!
